Arthroscopy and arthroplasty
The upper limb is a chain of small, highly mobile joints, and a problem in one of them shows up in everything you do — reaching a shelf, gripping a wheel, sleeping on your side.
Arthroscopy is keyhole surgery: a narrow camera is passed into the joint through a small incision so the surgeon can see the structures directly and treat what is found through instruments of a similar size. Arthroplasty is joint replacement — a worn joint surface is replaced with an implant.
